TAGGED: My Hijab Story

I  got tagged by sister Zeinab, and now I'm tagging you. :)

1. How old were you when you started wearing the hijab?
When I was around 7-8 years old.

2. What or who influenced you to become a hijabi?

My mom and sister influenced me. :) I've seen them proudly wear the hijaab and I always wanted to do that too. So I wore it. :)

3. How has hijab changed your life?

SubhanAllah,it changed my life in a way that it always reminds me of what I believe in and to stick to it. It reminded me to keep myself  in check and to behave well. Recently, I've started to wear 'abayah and alhamdulillah, that made every man think twice when aporching me. I feel more respected and left alone now, alhamdulillah.

4. What does hijab mean to you?

To me, Hijaab is not something you buy at the store, it's an attitude you have. It's to be obedient to Allah and to act as a true female slave of Allah should act like. It's to maintain modesty and shame. Hijaab is a badge of faith and a sheild to protect and preserve yourself.

5. How do you deal with the rude comments/stares you get due to being a hijabi?

What I do to deal with it is I show them the true meaning of hijaab. I make da'wah to them and show them that I'm not an alien, lol.
6. What is your favorite thing about wearing the hijab?

WAllahi, I think the absolute best thing about wearing hijaab is that you feel completely free! I swear, the first time I wore the khimar (headscarf), I felt good and happy. When first time I wore the abayah, I felt extremely comfortable and at ease.  That's probably the best thing about wearing hijaab for me, it felt so much better then my jeans and shirts I used to wear.

7. What is your hijab must have tool?
safety pins, straight pins, hijaab scarf, abayah. :)

8. What advice could you give a newbie hijabi?

Newbi hijaabis, I congratulate you on wearing the hijaab. Indeed hijaab is an act of worship and inshaAllah, you will be greatly rewarded for wearing it and acting upon it. My advise to you is to always remind yourself for why you're wearing it. We wear hijaab because we follow Allah swt's orders since we are submissive to Him. Also, I advise you to not let others peer pressure  you to taking it off, you are doing the right thing in wearing it. You're a precious my sister. Do you know what Muhammad Ali said to this daughter? He said:

Hana, everything that God made valuable in the world is covered and hard to get to. Where do you find diamonds? Deep down in the ground, covered and protected. Where do you find pearls? Deep down at the bottom of the ocean, covered up and protected in a beautiful shell. Where do you find gold? Way down in the mine, covered over with layers and layers of rock. You've got to work hard to get to them. Your body is sacred. You re far more precious than diamonds and pearls, and you should be covered too.

So don't be pressured my your peers into taking of your hijaab, hijaab is a gift, alhamdulillah and we must appreciate it. Find the love of Allah in your heart. Once you find that you will love to worship Him subhana wa ta'ala, and then you will love to do the things Allah love and hate to do the things Allah hates. So by wearing the hijaab, you are doing what Allah loves and inshaAllah, you will receive great reward for that inshaAllah. :)

9. What is one hijab trend you never understood?
Hijab+t-shirt+short shorts... ><
10. What do you think about the Hijabi community on YouTube?

Hmm, well I don't know much about their community. I know some sisters make hijaab tutorials online and mashaAllah, they are helping lots of sisters out there. :) I'm sure the community is great, inshaAllah. :)

11. What question do you get asked due to wearing the hijab?

Is hijaab your choice?

My answer: No, hijaab is not my choice. Hijaab is a Command from Allah swt and as Muslims we obey Allah. But being a Muslim (being submissive to Allah) is your choice. Hijaab is not oppression, nor is it a burden. If you chose to obey Allah swt (like a Muslim should), then you will do it! But if you don't, then that's really between you and your Lord. Hope that's clear. :)

Now your turn !!
